Company/Location Overview

The Glenmore Distillery has been a fixture in the Owensboro Community since the late 1800s. During Prohibition, The Glenmore Distillery was fortunate enough to be one of four distilleries in the country allowed to operate on a limited scale for medicinal necessity.

 

In March of 2009 the Sazerac Company purchased the distillery and reprised the name The Glenmore Distillery. The distillery boasts one of the largest and most modern bottling facilities in the country and continues to be a sizable employer in the city of Owensboro, KY.

 

 

Job Description/Responsibilities

  • Lead the Processing team in accomplishing production needs within safety, quality, budgetary and regulatory guidelines. Lead the Processing team in minimizing flavor inventory along with minimizing expired ingredients. Lead bulk processing management for the facility, including shipment of bulk and processed spirits to other Sazerac plants.    Employee must adhere to all Personal Safety, Food Safety, Quality, and Environmental Policies & Practices.
  • Ensures that new product formulas are developed, produced and delivered on schedule, in full, and meet agreed upon quality standards. Is a key liaison with plant lab and head office R&D. Ensure that new blends are scalable and feasible.
  • Lead the department efforts to control and reduce inventory, reduce losses and control inventory flow for all liquid and flavors. Ensure strict management and control of shelf life for flavor componentss
  • Monitors and enforces all OSHA and Company safety regulations and policies. Provides leadership to the safety program for the Processing department through development and execution of safe practices and operating procedures to minimize the occurrence and severity of workplace accidents. Assists in the investigation of EH&S incidents to determine and address root cause.
  • Ensure adherence to Personal Safety (HACCP), Food Safety, Quality and Environmental Policies and Practices. Analyzes and resolves problems relating to product quality in a timely manner to avoid loss of product and incorrect product being bottled. Monitor the batching and filtering work of the Processing Team Lead/employees to ensure
  • Trains and supervises Processing Team Lead and employees to improve skills and performance. Evaluates employee performance and skill level to determine skill improvement needs and develops improvement plans to address. Creates and develops a personal development plan with Processing Team Lead to improve their skill/competency that will develop personal skills and improve performance. Ensure adherence to Personal Safety (HACCP), Food Safety, Quality and Environmental Policies and Practices. Analyze and resolve problems related to product quality. Develop a culture of "quality thinking" and prevention throughout areas of responsibility
  • Ensures processing efficiency within cost standards. Monitors efficiencies, quality and production data to improve yields and throughput without sacrificing quality. Works with Processing Team Lead to analyze and resolve issues related to efficiency, processes, material, loss and waste.
  • Provides leadership to Processing employees in a manner consistent with the culture of the company. Ensures employees are treated fairly and with respect. Creates a team environment where all employees are encouraged to make a difference in meeting and exceeding customer expectations. Participates in efforts to address issues identified through climate surveys and make the Company a Best Place to Work
  • Understands career goals of employees and works with them to develop skills that will help them reach their career goals. Creates and executes a personal Career Develop Plan with manager with identified career goals and skill development needed to achieve the goals.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 5 year's of relevant experience ina  fast paced environment
  •  Ability to commuicate at all levels of the organization
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of Processing and Batching activities
  • Supervisor or management experience required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the beverage industry
  • Preferred ISO/HACCP implementation/management experience
